Maldives Holiday Planning

Maldives all-inclusive

every meal, drink & activity in one rate

From $350 per night for two on the budget end, up to $2,000+ for ultra-luxury platinum-tier resorts. Here is exactly what is included at each tier — and which resorts deliver the best value.

Updated

Quick answer

An all-inclusive (AI) plan at a Maldives resort bundles your room, all meals, most drinks, and a defined set of activities into a single nightly rate. Standard AI starts around $350/night for two; premium AI runs $500–$900; ultra-tier AI reaches $2,000+. The Maldives has 13+ resorts offering competitive all-inclusive plans across all three price bands. For stays of 4 nights or more, AI typically saves $1,200–$2,500 versus paying à la carte — especially given the 27% tax that gets added to every drink and meal on a non-AI plan.

Pricing notes. Bands shown are indicative nightly rates for two guests, all-in (including the typical 27% in resort taxes plus green tax). Actual rates vary by season, room type, and inclusion tier. IM quotes are always all-inclusive of taxes and confirmed for your travel dates.

How meal plans work

BB, HB, FB and AI — what each covers

Every Maldives resort offers a choice of meal plans. The cheapest published rate is usually bed-and-breakfast — but for most guests, all-inclusive is what makes a Maldives trip predictable and budgetable.

BB

Bed & Breakfast

Breakfast only

Lunch and dinner billed separately. Drinks always extra.

HB

Half Board

Breakfast + dinner

Lunch and all drinks extra. Common in 4-star resorts.

FB

Full Board

Breakfast + lunch + dinner

All meals at the main restaurant. Drinks extra. Specialty restaurants charge extra.

AI

All-Inclusive

All meals + most drinks + many activities

The plan this page is about. Tiers and inclusions vary widely — see below.

Worked example

AI vs HB on a real 7-night stay

Two guests · 7 nights · same resort, same room. One on half-board, one on standard all-inclusive. The difference at checkout.

Half-board ($300/night base)

Room × 7 nights$2,100
Lunch x 7 days (à la carte ~$60)$420
Cocktails (~4/day x 7)$420
Specialty restaurants (×3)$450
27% tax on extras$348
Green tax ($12 × 2 × 7)$168
Total$3,906

All-inclusive ($420/night base)

Room + meals + drinks × 7$2,940
Specialty restaurants (×1, surcharge)$80
27% tax on surcharges$22
Green tax ($12 × 2 × 7)$168
Total$3,210

Saves $696 versus half-board for the same trip — and no signing chits at the bar.

Indicative example. Actual savings depend on how often you eat off the main restaurant and how much you drink. The break-even on AI is typically 3–4 nights.

Common questions

Maldives all-inclusive — what to know

What does all-inclusive mean at a Maldives resort? +
An all-inclusive (AI) plan at a Maldives resort bundles your room, all meals, most drinks, and a defined set of activities into a single nightly rate. The exact inclusions vary widely — a standard AI plan covers buffet meals and house drinks; a premium AI plan adds specialty restaurants, premium spirits, and excursions; a top-tier (often called Platinum or Diamond) plan covers everything including specialty dining, champagne, and unlimited activities. Always read the AI plan inclusion list before booking — the difference between tiers is often $400+ per night.
Is all-inclusive worth it in the Maldives? +
For most guests staying 4+ nights at a 4 or 5-star resort, yes. Maldives resort prices have 17% GST + 10% service charge added on top of every item, so paying $30 for a cocktail effectively costs $38. With drinks, dinner, and any extras adding up quickly on a half-board plan, an all-inclusive plan usually breaks even by day 3 and saves money from day 4 onwards. For a 7-night honeymoon with 2 cocktails a day and one specialty restaurant per night, an AI plan typically saves $1,200–$2,500 versus paying à la carte.
What's the cheapest all-inclusive resort in the Maldives? +
The most affordable all-inclusive resorts in the Maldives start from around $350–$500 per night for two — properties like OBLU NATURE Helengeli, Safari Island Resort, and Sun Siyam Olhuveli sit in this band. These include all meals, house drinks, and basic watersports. Premium 5-star AI starts around $500–$900 per night (Furaveri, Lily Beach, Pullman Maamutaa). For ultra-luxury platinum-tier AI, expect $900–$2,000+ per night (Siyam World, Hideaway Beach, Emerald Maldives).
Are drinks included in Maldives all-inclusive? +
House-brand beer, wine, and soft drinks are included on every all-inclusive plan. Premium and ultra-tier plans add branded spirits, cocktails, and minibar. Champagne is usually only included in the highest Platinum/Diamond tiers. Always check the specific brand list — some resorts limit "premium" to specific call brands while excluding top-shelf, and the difference matters if you have brand preferences.
Do all-inclusive plans include transfers? +
No — transfers are billed separately at almost every Maldives resort, even on the most premium AI plans. Seaplane transfers add $400–$820 per person round-trip; speedboat transfers $100–$490. Some resorts include transfers as part of a special offer (longer stays, honeymoon packages) but it's not standard. We always quote the transfer separately so you see the true total.
Are excursions included in all-inclusive? +
Standard AI: usually only one or two group excursions (a dolphin cruise or sunset fishing). Premium AI: typically one excursion per week. Ultra AI: usually unlimited group excursions and snorkeling trips. Private excursions, dive packages, and photography sessions are almost always extra regardless of plan. Spa treatments are also usually excluded except at the very top tier.
Do children pay full all-inclusive rates? +
Children aged 12 and over typically pay the full adult AI rate. Ages 6–11 usually receive a 30–50% discount. Ages 2–5 typically pay a flat $25–$60 per day. Infants under 2 are usually free. Family-focused AI resorts (Furaveri, Sun Siyam Olhuveli, Hideaway) often have the most generous child policies — we confirm exact rates per resort on your quote.
Can I upgrade my meal plan after arrival? +
Some resorts allow on-the-spot upgrades from HB or FB to AI, but you'll pay the rack rate — which is often 30–50% more than upgrading in advance through us. We always quote the AI plan alongside HB so you can compare total trip cost before deciding. Upgrading after arrival rarely makes financial sense.
